About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Honda will play a pivotal role in leading, creating, and implementing innovative technical activities and solutions across various domains including Mass Production, Business Plan, and New Model initiatives. This position is essential for efficiently meeting or exceeding targets related to Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective communication across all levels of the organization to ensure a common understanding and direction. This role requires a proactive approach to reviewing and analyzing daily reports to identify gaps in safety, quality, and delivery, and to develop potential countermeasures or root cause analysis opportunities, all while striving for continuous improvement. In addition to problem-solving, the Manufacturing Engineer will utilize data analysis and the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to lead and support the development of solutions in collaboration with related groups and departments. Monitoring and managing equipment and processes to ensure optimal manufacturing performance while minimizing operating expenses is a key responsibility. The role also involves developing the capabilities of oneself and colleagues through training, mentoring, and sharing experiences in technical expertise. Establishing priorities and making data-driven decisions to accomplish business objectives is crucial, as is managing project implementation, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure successful completion and target achievement. Furthermore, the Manufacturing Engineer will be tasked with testing, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to enhance overall equipment and process efficiency. This position requires a strong foundation in engineering principles, a positive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while solving complex problems through analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, create, and implement innovative technical activities and solutions in Mass Production, Business Plan, and New Model areas.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure common understanding and direction.
  • Review and analyze daily reports to identify safety, quality, and delivery gaps and develop countermeasures or root cause analysis opportunities.
  • Utilize data analysis and PDCA to lead and support the development of solutions for complex problems.
  • Monitor and manage equipment and processes to ensure optimal manufacturing performance while minimizing operating expenses.
  • Develop the capabilities of self and colleagues through training, mentoring, and sharing experiences.
  • Establish priorities and make data-driven decisions to accomplish business objectives.
  • Manage project implementation, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure successful completion.
  • Test, evaluate, and implement new technologies to improve equipment and process efficiency.
  • Develop and manage investment and expense budgets to achieve overall cost targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering or engineering technology with relevant experience (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical) or 6 years engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Manufacturing co-op/internship experience preferred.
  • Computer literate to support industry standard software applications.
  • Positive attitude, open-minded, and a team player.
  • Strong self-motivation and desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Self-managed and able to provide and set direction for others.
  • Demonstrates leadership capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
