About the position

Our client in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with 1-5 years of experience to support the transition of designed products into production. This is an onsite role located in White Salmon, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking product designs from multiple teams and effectively transitioning them into a manufacturing environment. This involves creating and defining the production processes necessary for the manufacturing of electronic products. The role will also require the creation of tooling, jigs, and fixtures that are essential for product manufacturing and assembly. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop processes, work instructions, and assembly fixtures to ensure efficient production workflows. The position demands a hands-on approach, as the engineer will be involved in the actual building of the product, which includes tasks such as cutting and soldering wires and using various assembly tools. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSME or BSEE preferred), or equivalent hands-on experience, including vocational or community college education. A solid understanding of electronics manufacturing tools and the ability to read and interpret prints and schematics are crucial for success in this role. The engineer will also utilize Solidworks for basic design functions, ensuring that the Bill of Materials (BOMs) align with production needs. This role is critical in ensuring that the designed products are brought to life in a manufacturing setting, and the engineer will play a key role in the overall success of the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Take product designs from multiple teams and transition them into manufacturing
  • Create and define the production process for manufacturing of the electronics product
  • Create tooling, jigs, fixtures necessary for product manufacturing and assembly
  • Develop processes, work instructions and assembly fixtures

Requirements

  • BSME or BSEE preferred, equivalent hands-on experience and some kind of vocational or community college education will be considered
  • 1-5 years of experience (including relevant internship experience)
  • Understand/read prints and schematics
  • Understanding/experience of electronics manufacturing tools: soldering, assembly tools, fixtures, testing, etc.
  • Experience and comfort doing the building of the product and being hands-on in a manufacturing environment: from cutting and soldering wires to using a hacksaw
  • Solidworks: Will use basic functions to design/create tooling, production aids, test fixtures, etc. Will also do some of the 'bookkeeping' of CAD and ensure BOMs are aligned to what's needed for production
