Responsibilities

  • Maintain current layup, cure, and rework process documentation and manage changes in Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Evaluate nonconforming parts and provide dispositions based on customer specifications.
  • Support root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Troubleshoot process stoppages to minimize downtime in Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Layup (ATL), and manual layup work cells.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities relating to safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain processes that meet operation's labor and cycle time targets.
  • Create Compliance Matrices for customer requirements.
  • Utilize SPC to monitor quality data.
  • Support the implementation of new processes and automation projects to the manufacturing floor.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, particularly in aerospace composites.
  • Knowledge of layup, cure, and rework processes for composite structures.
  • Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Ability to evaluate nonconforming parts and provide appropriate dispositions.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting automated and manual layup processes.
  • Understanding of safety, quality, and efficiency improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) for quality monitoring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) and Automated Tape Layup (ATL) technologies.
  • Familiarity with compliance matrices and customer requirement documentation.
  • Background in working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
