About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position in Saltillo, Mississippi, is a critical role focused on enhancing manufacturing processes within the Tupelo facility. This position involves providing tooling, equipment, and process design support, as well as technical expertise to ensure efficient production operations. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements and upgrades, which may include developing Capital Expense Requests and Proposals for necessary investments. In addition to process improvements, the role emphasizes waste reduction as part of a Continuous Improvement program. The Manufacturing Engineer will actively participate in preventive actions recommended by the Hazard Elimination Team, ensuring that safety and efficiency are prioritized in all manufacturing processes. Leading selected Kaizen events will be a key responsibility, aimed at reducing waste and improving process flow. Furthermore, the engineer will conduct production and manufacturing reviews to ensure that product designs are not only producible but also cost-effective, aligning with the company's operational goals. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with various teams to drive initiatives that enhance productivity and quality in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement Manufacturing process improvements and upgrades where appropriate.
  • Develop Capital Expense Requests and Proposals for submittal.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing to meet customer deliveries.
  • Identify and implement Waste Reduction solutions as part of Continuous Improvement program.
  • Participate on and implement preventive actions recommended by the Hazard Elimination Team.
  • Lead selected Kaizen events to reduce waste and improve process flow.
  • Conduct production/manufacturing reviews to ensure product designs are producible and cost effective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Technical Field or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of experience providing technical support in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Training and certification as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of leading focused Kaizen teams in Continuous improvement projects.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
