About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Huhtamaki plays a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes and addressing production challenges related to materials, processes, and tooling. This position is integral to our commitment to sustainable packaging solutions, ensuring that our innovative products not only protect food and beverages but also contribute to reducing food waste. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for evaluating existing manufacturing processes through careful observation and research, applying their knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. This role requires collaboration with both internal teams and external vendors to gather and assess information from various sources, ensuring that all manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness. In addition to evaluating processes, the Manufacturing Engineer will review process equipment, procedures, hardware, and tooling, making informed recommendations for repairs, revisions, or replacements as necessary. This includes preparing and revising technical drawings, instructions, and documentation for both new and existing equipment. The role also encompasses project management responsibilities, requiring the engineer to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and communication. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with other departments to ensure that all aspects of manufacturing are aligned with the company's goals and objectives. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is designed for individuals who are passionate about improving manufacturing processes and are eager to contribute to Huhtamaki's ambitious 2030 Strategy. Responsibilities

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes through observation and research.
  • Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Confers with internal and external resources and equipment vendors.
  • Collects and evaluates information from multiple sources.
  • Reviews processes and process equipment, procedures, hardware, and tooling.
  • Makes recommendations for repair, revision, or replacement.
  • Prepares and revises drawings, instructions, and other documentation for new or existing equipment.
  • Performs project management duties as assigned.
  • Collaborates with other departments as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • Computer literate: MS Word, Excel, AutoCad, Solidworks.
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels (internal and external to the organization) orally and in writing.
  • Highly organized; ability to balance multiple high priority projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willing to relocate.
