About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Pyrotek will play a crucial role in developing new products and processes, improving existing manufacturing methods, and providing technical support. This position involves collaboration with various teams to ensure efficient production, design effective tooling, and analyze manufacturing variances to enhance workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes to suggest and develop new and improved methods.
  • Support installation and start-up, documentation of procedures, and training on new processes and upgrades.
  • Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams on product design and tooling.
  • Design effective tooling and fixtures for manufacturing of fabricated parts.
  • Confer with plant leadership, engineers, and machinists regarding manufacturing capabilities and production schedules.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances such as cycle times and labor costs.
  • Prepare and provide cost estimates to the Sales Team per customer requests.
  • Analyze and plan to maximize workflow efficiency throughout the machine shop.
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Aid Manufacturing Team in developing jigs, fixtures, and tooling to reduce lead times and costs.
  • Ensure accuracy of machine instructions and revise programs as needed.
  • Order new tools and equipment, and repair tools as necessary.
  • Establish relationships with vendors to identify new tools and learn new tooling techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering plus three years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the aluminum or foundry industries.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD/CAM software is required.
  • VBA programming/coding is preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification(s) and/or Lean manufacturing principles experience is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
