About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position at Kerns Manufacturing Corporation is an entry-level role focused on collaborating with production personnel to implement and enhance production processes. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining both special and conventional process requirements, participating in process audits, and ensuring that customer design requirements are effectively reviewed and implemented. This role is crucial in developing and documenting the manufacturing processes necessary to produce end-item components from customer drawings, which involves creating tooling concepts and tool drawings to support production efforts. In addition to process development, the Manufacturing Engineer will analyze existing manufacturing process flows to identify opportunities for quality enhancement, cost reduction, and throughput improvement. Maintaining documentation to meet the latest requirements is essential, as is coordinating with production and tool room personnel to ensure the timely production and delivery of company products. The engineer will also work closely with quality personnel to develop process control techniques and support the manufacturing and supply chain through troubleshooting and technical problem resolution. The role requires estimating labor hours and material content associated with new part proposals and participating in the development of new techniques related to the company's core competencies, including vacuum brazing, vacuum heat treat, electron beam welding, GTAW welding, electrical discharge machining, airflow, and close tolerance machining of aerospace super alloys. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, capable of multi-tasking, and possess a solid background in CNC and conventional machining.
