The Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in launching new vehicle and powertrain programs at assembly plants in North America. This position is responsible for the overall program management and successful delivery of new vehicle programs. The role encompasses a variety of activities, including but not limited to issue resolution, quality and status assessments, fleet management, and budget and timing oversight. The engineer will manage the transition of launch teams to the manufacturing plant, ensuring a smooth integration into the production environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing pre-production build events, managing the ordering, building, testing, and disposition of vehicles, and executing the Pre-Production Drive Fleet Evaluation Plan. The engineer will also be responsible for managing product development change approvals prior to prototype builds, acting as the gatekeeper for new model programs. This role requires leading the build issues management process for the cross-functional program team, co-chairing meetings, and driving part support issues to resolution for each pre-production build. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will champion senior management presentations and prepare and present weekly assessment reports on new model programs. Managing the launch budget approval and executing elements controlled by new model programs within the launch budget is also a critical aspect of this position. Given the nature of the role, long-term travel (up to 9-12 months at a time) will be required to support assembly plants during program launches.
