About the position

The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer at ITT Goulds Pumps will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing assembly lines and production areas. This position involves driving continuous improvement initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing lean manufacturing projects to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. The engineer will also be responsible for designing and procuring necessary tools and fixtures, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring effective communication across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Support several manufacturing assembly lines and production areas.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Strategically align with production, quality, finance, and other stakeholders to implement lean manufacturing projects.
  • Design, develop, and procure necessary fixtures, equipment, or tools for assembly operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, programming, and operations to explore new machining technology and acquire advanced CNC machines.
  • Perform and document root cause analysis.
  • Participate in Gemba walks and implement engineering solutions based on escalations.
  • Employ Lean Six Sigma tools to increase manufacturing capacity and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions for production areas.
  • Read and create CAD models, preferably using Creo Pro-E.
  • Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Calculate production, labor, and material costs to provide decision-making information.
  • Communicate with various teams to achieve solutions for capacity planning and quality levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience implementing lean projects.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly operations.
  • Knowledge of machining fundamentals and processes.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience.
  • Familiarity with Creo Pro E or other design software.
  • General computer experience, including MS Office (Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively.

Nice-to-haves

  • CNC programming experience (not required).
  • Familiarity with Lean and Kaizen techniques.
