About the position

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is seeking a dedicated Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to enhance our Avantor Fluid Handling organization. This full-time, on-site role based in Barrington, Illinois, is ideal for individuals with a strong background in electrical engineering. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing processes and supporting the introduction of new products into production. In this position, you will provide engineering support for existing products, assist in the introduction of new products by evaluating and implementing tooling and process communication requirements, and devise methods to improve manufacturing efficiency. You will also examine process equipment and assembly lines to identify quality revisions, suggest improvements, and implement necessary changes. Your responsibilities will include soliciting vendor quotations for equipment support and repairs, planning tooling and process communication for product revisions, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues through the Engineering Change (EC) process. Additionally, you will collaborate with product development teams to ensure a smooth transition from design release to production, verify and validate new equipment before its use in manufacturing, and build or repair internally created testing equipment. Your expertise in electrical and mechanical devices, digital electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics will be essential in this role. You will also be expected to analyze problems methodically and implement practical solutions efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for existing products.
  • Assist with the introduction of new products in manufacturing by evaluating and implementing tooling and process communication requirements.
  • Plan, devise, and adapt methods to enable or improve manufacturing/production.
  • Examine process equipment and assembly to determine quality revisions and suggest/implement improvements.
  • Solicit quotations from vendors for support and repair of existing equipment and the acquisition of new equipment.
  • Plan and implement tooling and process communication requirements for revisions to existing products to ensure quality and timely manufacture.
  • Troubleshoot and address manufacturing issues with existing products through the EC process.
  • Assist the product development staff in the transition from design release to production through implementation of tooling and process communication requirements for the introduction of new products.
  • Verify and validate new equipment prior to it being used in production.
  • Build and/or repair existing internally created testing equipment in manufacturing.
  • Identify, design, and/or modify documents for tooling and fixturing required for assembly.
  • Analyze problems methodically and implement practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • Three or more years of experience providing engineering support for existing products.
  • Experience assisting with the introduction of new products in manufacturing.
  • Experience planning and adapting methods to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Experience examining process equipment and assembly for quality revisions.
  • Experience soliciting vendor quotations for equipment support and repairs.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing issues through the EC process.
  • Experience collaborating with product development teams for smooth transitions from design to production.
  • Experience verifying and validating new equipment for production use.
  • Experience building or repairing testing equipment in manufacturing.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical devices, digital electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Experience with manufacturing practices for electronic/mechanical products.
