About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position at Butler America Aerospace, LLC involves developing and implementing manufacturing processes and procedures for aerospace propulsion systems. The role requires collaboration in a model-based engineering environment to ensure operational excellence through effective equipment and tool performance evaluation, as well as providing design input for product specifications. The position also necessitates hands-on support on the production floor and the ability to work independently within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies and equipment installation.
  • Evaluate performance of equipment and tools to verify efficiency and initiate corrective actions for deficiencies.
  • Provide input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements.
  • Work within a model-based engineering environment (3DX/iBASEt).
  • Support hands-on production floor operations and interface with touch-labor employees.
  • Review and redline engineering technical drawings and models.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in aerospace propulsion systems operations, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Background in aircraft jet engines.
  • Experience with aircraft sub-systems assembly and integration.
  • On-vehicle troubleshooting of aircraft sub-systems.
  • Familiarity with jet engine integration, service, and maintenance.
  • Experience in manufacturing assembly work instruction authoring and work planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with complete integrated air vehicle designs, build, and ground/flight test.
  • Wire harness and interconnect installation/integration experience.
  • Knowledge of aircraft fuel systems.
  • Development/prototype/first article program support experience.
  • Familiarity with metallic part machining.
  • Experience with 3DX and Catia V5 software.
  • Proficiency in GD&T.
  • Experience with critical hardware move procedures.
  • Evaluation of designs with respect to design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) considerations.
  • Experience in composite fabrication and assembly.
  • Working with CNC machine operators.
  • Experience with Low Observable (LO) composite assemblies.
  • STEM type degree.
