About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for enhancing operational efficiencies through expertise in process control, project management, and lean manufacturing. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, participating in new product development, and executing continuous improvement projects to meet company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Understand injection molding, process control, machine capability, mold capability, material processing, and auxiliary equipment operations.
  • Serve as an advanced troubleshooter for machine, tool, process, or inter-related problems during production runs.
  • Act as the manufacturing representative in New Product Introduction and Development teams, providing Design for Manufacturability expertise.
  • Recommend, participate in, and execute continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in developing work cell layouts using ergonomics and lean tools to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Provide machine, process, and material expertise in investigating and analyzing customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new projects to operate and maintain equipment, assisting with the transition from Engineering to Operations.
  • Train operational personnel in setup and operation of new equipment and automation within work cells.
  • Maintain necessary documentation for projects to meet company specifications and procedures.
  • Interact with customer representatives to understand the voice of the customer.
  • Coordinate modifications to tooling and auxiliary equipment to improve the molding process or modify the end product per customer specifications.
  • Validate processes per customer and internal requirements.
  • Handle special projects as required by the Manager.
  • Continually improve skills by taking appropriate training courses.
  • Perform other tasks related to manufacturing, engineering, and estimating as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on process control and project management.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding and related processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues effectively.
  • Experience in new product introduction and development processes.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Ability to train and assist operational personnel in new equipment setup and operation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation in manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ergonomics in work cell design.
  • Knowledge of material processing and auxiliary equipment operations.
