We have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Hanover Park, IL team. You will participate in and support kaizen events, Lean work cell design, standard product design revisions, cost improvement projects, capital expenditure projects, and supply chain initiatives. You will provide technical support for plant operations, attend to issues in the assembly line, and assure that the operation goes on without any hindrance. Your role will involve ensuring a continuous flow of the assembly process, making the assembly process simpler and ergonomic, and implementing lean-manufacturing techniques. You will also participate in Kaizen events, provide guidance to operators, cell leads, and the Production Manager regarding projects, process improvements, and issues with the line. Supporting production by providing fixturing and tooling, conducting time studies, and troubleshooting quality and process issues will be key aspects of your responsibilities. You will identify causes and develop strategies for eliminating recurring downtime, source vendors, define SOWs, and manage contract deliverables when outside sources are used. Additionally, you will monitor processes, including new equipment and tools, to ensure performance to specifications, implement capital and non-capital projects, and work with plant quality control and manufacturing personnel to ensure processes and equipment are capable of producing products that meet quality and engineering standards. Finally, you will review new and modified specifications for proper content and schedule their introduction into the manufacturing system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing supporting both processes and procedures; 5 years preferred.
  • LEAN manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of Project/Program Management Methodologies and utilizing resources to drive bottom line results.
  • Basic working knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and servo motion control.
  • Experience in sonic and spin welding.
  • Experience in robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics preferred (Fanuc preferred).
