About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Woodward is responsible for designing and supporting complex manufacturing systems and equipment. This role involves mentoring other engineers, leading process improvements, and making independent technical decisions. The engineer will collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth operations and will be involved in implementing engineering changes and creating process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced technical solutions and leads team through process.
  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Initiates, justifies, and implements new advanced capital equipment purchases.
  • Creates cell layouts and leads process improvement initiatives of high complexity.
  • Participates in and promotes process improvements within assigned areas; assists with the development of department and organization procedures.
  • Supports the manufacturing floor for any process related questions. Lends lessons learned and leads training efforts for process understanding.
  • Creates, maintains, and develops new process documentation and updates work order documentation. Creates new systems that support this effort.
  • Implements complex engineering changes. Leads and acts as a change agent for complex engineering changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field is required.
  • Greater than 2 years professional manufacturing engineering experience required or a combination of experience and advanced degree.
  • Demonstrated understanding of applicable machining processes, fixturing and tooling required to manufacture a part, including both manual and CNC programming.
  • Solid understanding of CAD modeling and resulting machine code generation required to machine a part utilizing CNC process.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering and process drawings and the ability to apply GD&T to manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inspection techniques and gauges, including Gauge R&R, to ensure parts meet required specifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of process capability and process variation.
