About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the Electronic Components Work Center for the Tactical Space Systems Division by creating and leading production plans, conducting engineering reviews, designing manufacturing processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role is critical in maintaining production schedules and ensuring product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, lead, and approve production plans.
  • Lead efforts to provide engineering review and document intended processes to maintain schedule for one or more customer programs.
  • Lead non-conformance review and root cause determination.
  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Design the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
  • Design sequences of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan and inspect the performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency.
  • Investigate and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Directly interface with Technicians and supporting roles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with applicable experience.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and equipment, including soldering, mechanical assembly, epoxy dispensing and curing, conformal coating, thermal interface material dispense/application, Automated Optical Inspection, and component/assembly testing.

  • Experience with circuit card installation, box closure, and rework.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience with cable and harnessing.
  • Experience with power tools and construction.
  • Experience with Costpoint, SAP, MES, Solumina, TIPQA, Windchill.
  • Experience working in an ISO or AS9100 environment.
