About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Komatsu plays a crucial role in the documentation, control, and enhancement of manufacturing processes for TimberPro products at the Shawano facility. This position requires close collaboration with various departments, including production supervision, production planning, purchasing, design engineering, and accounting, to drive improvements across the facility. The focus areas include safety risk mitigation, quality enhancements, new product development, delivery improvements, and cost reductions. Additionally, the manufacturing engineer will oversee capital improvement projects throughout the facility, ensuring that all processes align with the company's standards and objectives. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for planning and designing manufacturing processes within the industrial plant. This involves maximizing efficiency by analyzing the layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization. The engineer will determine the necessary parts and tools to meet manufacturing goals according to product specifications. Furthermore, they will execute the manufacturing portions of the engineering change notification process, collaborating with buyers and planners to ensure a smooth transition of material and process changes. The manufacturing engineer will also be tasked with planning, designing, researching, and presenting approval documentation for manufacturing capital projects. Effective communication with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Vendors is essential to meet project timelines and maintain product quality to TimberPro standards. The role may also involve managing interns to support various manufacturing improvement projects, ensuring that all activities are documented and presented professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and designs manufacturing processes in industrial plant.
  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
  • Determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
  • Executes manufacturing portions of the engineering change notification process with buyers and planners to ensure smooth transition of material and process changes.
  • Plans, designs, researches, presents approval documentation and executes manufacturing capital projects.
  • Communicates needs with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Vendors, to ensure project timelines are met and product quality is to the TimberPro standards.
  • Completes reports, records test findings and presents issues in a professional manner.
  • May be required to manage interns to support manufacturing improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related equivalent technical degree in hydraulics or welding.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a Heavy Manufacturing Environment working with Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic Systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, and high-level user skills in Infor Syteline, PIPS, SAP, and inventory planning systems.
  • Must possess analytical/critical thinking skills and strong written and verbal communication.
  • Must project a cooperative and positive attitude toward customers, employees, and the Company.
  • Must comply with all environmental, quality and safety rules, practices, and standards.
