About the position

Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Global Innovation and Development network. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals in both product development and manufacturing, both locally and globally. Your contributions will be vital in fulfilling the full product life cycle, from early ideation through to commercial launch. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with various engineering groups, including Mechanical, Electrical, Human Centered Design, Hardware and Software, Program Management, Validation, Quality, and Operations. Your focus will be on the development of assemblies that may range from manual assembly to semi-automated processes. This will involve completing design for assembly, specifying and purchasing equipment, process development, validation, and providing build support. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to servicing the healthcare industry through the development and manufacturing of a wide range of products that improve the lives of end users. The Global Innovation and Development center, located in Hudson, Wisconsin, is home to over 150 individuals committed to the conceptualization, development, and clinical manufacture of combination products, diagnostic devices, and medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes based on product requirements by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment
  • Develop creative and innovative approaches to new assembly processes
  • Assist with developing cost estimates
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research and testing programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • Develop and execute plans for prototyping and proof of concept activities, create and document equipment URS
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques, using creative, critical thinking, and collaborative methods
  • Work with customers, cross-functional teams, and operations to support program needs, working to meet program milestones and budgets during development
  • Interface with customers on a regular basis to provide updates on program development and to work together to resolve issues
  • Work directly with internal and external equipment vendors to ensure equipment meets all specifications
  • Provide FAT leadership at equipment vendor locations
  • Manage vendor plans for build, contingency plans based on FAT, and resolve issues prior to acceptance of equipment
  • Manage equipment installation at the Phillips-Medisize facility including SAT, Process Development & IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Create documentation for operations, maintenance technicians, and calibration departments to operate and maintain equipment
  • Provide written protocols, technical reports, and engineering documentation as necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • Experience with process development and validation
  • Ability to interface with customers and cross-functional teams effectively
  • Strong documentation skills for protocols and technical reports
