About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer in the Wind Division at Electric Machinery Company is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process and addressing production issues. This role focuses on defining, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods to enhance safety, quality, cycle-time, and efficiency. The engineer will utilize production drawings and process specifications to minimize rework and costs while ensuring the production team is equipped with the necessary tools and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the manufacturing process expert, resolving issues on the production floor.
  • Ensure the production team has proper tooling and process specifications.
  • Create documented process specifications and work instructions using technical writing skills.
  • Provide direction to the production team regarding design interpretations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Organize and categorize existing tooling for easy access during production.
  • Manage production test setups and configuration development.
  • Lead Manufacturing Design-Reviews to identify manufacturability and quality issues before design release.
  • Write Engineering Change Requests for product improvements identified by the manufacturing team.
  • Capture and disposition all quality-related notifications.
  • Support various factory areas including new machine builds and service rebuilds.
  • Communicate proactively to prevent production delays.
  • Collaborate with the LEAN continuous-improvement manager to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives to drive bottom-line improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an industrial production environment.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience designing and fabricating production tooling.
  • Experience manufacturing electric motors and/or generators preferred.
  • Self-managed with a demonstrated record of managing projects that produce quantifiable improvements.
  • Proficient in Solidworks and Autocad; Ansys and vibration analysis tools preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • LEAN Practitioner with successful application of LEAN concepts in manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to optimize information and process flow.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Competent public speaker capable of interacting with all levels of staff.
  • Customer interaction and management skills are essential.
