In this role, you will lead the identification, prioritization, and implementation of continuous improvement projects specifically within our Metal Powder Coat Finishing and Assembly area. Your focus will be on developing sustainable improvements through team engagement, utilizing servant leadership, technical knowledge, and continuous improvement tools to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost initiatives. You will apply lean concepts such as standardized work, problem-solving methodologies, material handling and planning, and kaizen activities to drive these improvements. Additionally, you will manage capital projects to resource new product lines and equipment needs while facilitating SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) improvement initiatives. This position requires collaboration with quality and product development teams to implement customer requests and new product launches, ensuring that all engineering change notices are executed effectively. Your role will also involve coaching others in basic engineering tasks and documenting activities and progress to reflect your work and assumptions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and prioritization of continuous improvement projects in the Metal Powder Coat Finishing and Assembly area.
  • Develop sustainable improvements through team engagement and servant leadership.
  • Utilize lean concepts including standardized work, problem-solving methodologies, and kaizen activities.
  • Implement engineering change notices and collaborate with quality and product development teams.
  • Manage capital projects for new product lines and equipment needs.
  • Facilitate SQDC improvement initiatives and support financial targets during new product planning and launch phases.
  • Conduct quality reviews of defect anomalies and process failures.
  • Document design changes to ensure compliance with BOM requirements.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a related field preferred.
  • 2- or 4-year technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Sound understanding and a minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in powder coat paint and metal materials.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to utilize drawing and fabrication software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and balance multiple projects effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with semi-automated and automated equipment in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to build business cases for capital expenditure and manage equipment specifications and installation projects.
