About the position

The entry-level manufacturing engineer at DRS Daylight Solutions will support laser manufacturing operations through design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation tasks. This role is focused on routine engineering responsibilities with guidance from senior engineers, contributing to the development and improvement of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Draft manufacturing work instructions.
  • Draft manufacturing and test process flows.
  • Document test set ups and procedures.
  • Execute laser manufacturing tests.
  • Mature and improve existing manufacturing procedures.
  • Validate processes and equipment/metrology.
  • Document maintenance and calibration plans for manufacturing.
  • Perform design of experiments (DOEs) to improve production and quality.
  • Manufacture first 'production' laser units: prototypes / engineering models / production readiness models.
  • Provide inputs for design for manufacturing and assembly to the design team.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field and 0+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
