About the position

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for solving all types of process issues and act as a primary contact with the end customer for all production issues. The primary goals are to support the improvement of plant metrics such as downtime, customer PPM, and defects. This role is crucial in ensuring that manufacturing processes are efficient and effective, contributing to the overall success of the production environment. In this position, you will lead continuous improvements and provide technical expertise in solving process problems. You will troubleshoot equipment and part defects, implementing corrective actions quickly and effectively to minimize disruptions. Managing process documentation, such as work instructions and setup instructions, will be a key responsibility, ensuring that all processes are clearly defined and easily accessible to the team. You will also optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality and material flow while reducing cycle times. Collaborating with the Process Planning team during the development and launch of new equipment, tooling, and processes will be essential. Additionally, you will provide training for new and modified processes, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their roles effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvements and provide technical expertise in solving process problems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and part defects, implementing corrective actions quickly and effectively.
  • Manage process documentation such as work instructions and setup instructions.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve quality and material flow while reducing cycle times.
  • Work with the Process Planning team during the development and launch of new equipment, tooling, and processes.
  • Provide training for new and modified processes.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering required, Mechanical/Electrical preferred.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment required; automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with the development, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively implement short and long term counter measures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of PLC programming preferred.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, JIS, OEE, line sequencing, KANBAN, etc. a plus.
  • Ability to lead cost focused solutions to manufacturing issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and organizational aptitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess strong computer skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.).
