Manufacturing Engineer

Ontic’s Creedmoor, NC, site is home to a number of specialist companies within the Ontic Group, including Firstmark, Twin Commander, and Metro Merlin. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace. Our team is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join them. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, NC.

Responsibilities

• Interpret complex mechanical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to evaluate product designs to develop manufacturing work instructions, processes, routers, procedures and test protocols.
• Develop prototype/pilot manufacturing builds to test and evaluate product and process designs and revisions.
• Work in close collaboration with other engineering teams, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales and Quality in the launch of new products and the manufacturing support and improvement of existing products.
• Develop and design tools and fixtures, research and specify manufacturing machinery, equipment and systems.
• Create and maintain accurate mechanical drawings, schematics, technical specifications and manufacturing process documentation.
• Provide documentation and training on assembly methods, test procedures and production equipment.
• Conduct failure analyses to resolve manufacturability or quality issues.
• Perform machine and maintenance and high-level troubleshooting.
• Provide technical assistance in matters of applications, products, materials, equipment and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 1-4 years of experience in manufacturing, planning and fabrication.
• Experience working with AC/DC motors, actuators, hydraulic pumps, valves, electro-mechanical assemblies and accessories.
• Knowledge of materials, outside processes, NDT and specifications related to precision aerospace components and systems.
• Knowledge of design/drafting practices, geometric tolerancing, and proficiency in reading mechanical drawings.
• Effective communication and technical writing skills.
• Formal problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office, 2D & 3D CAD.
