About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at PDS Defense, Inc. in Palmdale, CA, is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for various aerospace components. This role requires collaboration within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure operational excellence in manufacturing, particularly focusing on aerospace propulsion systems and aircraft jet engines. The engineer will evaluate equipment performance, provide design input, and support production operations while maintaining a hands-on approach on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures for assemblies and equipment installation.
• Evaluate performance of equipment and tools to ensure operational efficiency.
• Provide input to product design regarding manufacturing techniques and specifications.
• Support hands-on production floor operations and interface with manufacturing employees.
• Review and redline engineering technical drawings and models.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in aerospace propulsion systems operations and maintenance.
• Background in aircraft jet engines and sub-systems assembly.
• Experience with manufacturing assembly work instruction authoring and work planning.
• Hands-on production floor support and troubleshooting of aircraft sub-systems.
• Familiarity with jet engine integration and service.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with wire harness and interconnect installation.
• Knowledge of aircraft fuel systems and testing of aircraft sub-systems.
• Proficiency in 3DX and Catia V5 software.
• Understanding of GD&T and critical hardware move procedures.
• Experience with composite fabrication and assembly.
