A key aspect of the job involves designing and evaluating new and existing layouts, product flows, fixtures, and equipment, all while supporting a LEAN manufacturing environment. The engineer will also be responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods, analyzing workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow to design equipment layouts that maximize efficiency. Identifying production constraints and bottlenecks will be essential, along with recommending methods to eliminate these issues. The use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) will be crucial in refining methods, improving quality, and increasing throughput. Additionally, the engineer will provide input on innovative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems, develop labor hour baselines for continuous improvement projects, and identify manufacturing technologies that align with strategic business objectives. Managing both large- and small-scale manufacturing projects will be a significant part of the role, including overseeing project timelines, capital requests, and budget responsibilities.
