About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer role at Actalent involves building, testing, qualifying, and producing next-generation spacecraft. This position serves as a critical link between various teams including production, development, tooling, supply chain, and quality, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes and addressing technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, qualify, and produce next-generation spacecraft.
• Utilize innovative solutions and cutting-edge technology to solve manufacturing and engineering problems.
• Act as a lynchpin between production, development, tooling, supply chain, and quality teams.
• Lead production on the assembly line and new production introduction.
• Provide first-line support for technical challenges to the production team.
• Respond to, triage, and solve product issues that slow down factory throughput.
• Stand up new processes, equipment, and assembly lines to support build ramp.
• Make data-driven decisions at each step in the process.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Low Rate Manufacturing Environments & New Product Introduction
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis Techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, etc.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong communication and writing skills

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SAP or similar ERP software
• Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software
• Experience with Aerospace &/or Optical Manufacturing
• Experience with Python Programming Language
• Experience with Optical System Design & Optical Metrology
• Experience with Fiber Optic Systems
• Experience with Statistical Analysis Software such as Minitab
