About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at L. S. Starrett Co. is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing processes, procedures, and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. This role focuses on enhancing efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Recommends manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective, and to promote quality and reliability.
  • Assesses current equipment and processes, identifies, recommends, and implements changes in the manufacturing process.
  • Helps to identify, troubleshoot, and implement process changes to improve both quality and production output.
  • Researches automation techniques, tests new systems for productivity improvements, and plans factory layouts to optimize production output.
  • Collects and analyzes production and quality assurance data, recommending and implementing action plans based on operational performance data.
  • May train personnel in equipment usage and processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Educational Background.
  • 5 Years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in machining and assembly environments.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Problem-solving skills/training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of applications for CNC programming.
  • Understanding and knowledge of assembly and inspection methods.
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Great attention to detail and a results-driven approach.
  • Organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite applications and ERP systems (Oracle or equivalent).
