About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Kimber Mfg., Inc. is responsible for designing and developing 3-D CAD models and supporting documentation to define the manufacturing and process steps for producing tight tolerance mechanical components and assemblies. This role involves creating fixtures, tooling, gages, and test equipment, ensuring robust and reliable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Define the process operations and correct sequencing to support the manufacture of quality mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and gages using Solidworks, incorporating best practices such as DFM, DFA, DTC, and stack analysis.
  • Create fully dimensioned 2-D drawings linked to 3-D files for each manufacturing operation, demonstrating a solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Manage Bill of Materials, including material selection and raw material configuration.
  • Document design revisions for the Technical Data Package, including CAD, BOM, and engineering masters.
  • Initiate and participate in cross-functional design reviews to optimize new designs for manufacturability.
  • Provide technical input to Applications Engineering for process improvements.
  • Support manufacturing floor processing issues and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate, justify, and implement capital equipment projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong desire to develop program solutions to automate CAD/CAM processes.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, preferably Solidworks and Mastercam.
  • Experience with 3D-model-centric CAM principles and techniques for analyzing CAD models for manufacturability.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T.
  • Organizational skills to maintain accurate records and files.
  • Familiarity with common problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies.
  • Engineering degree required; Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
