About the position
Puget Sound Coatings (PSC) is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to enhance efficiency within our satellite coating programs. This role is integral to optimizing shop floor processes, ensuring streamlined production, and solving complex manufacturing challenges in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with the President, Production Manager, and Program Manager to drive operational excellence and improve throughput.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes related to satellite coating operations.
- Develop and implement efficiency improvements, reducing waste and increasing throughput.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and program management, to optimize workflow.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, ensuring timely project completion.
- Utilize lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance process reliability.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure repeatable and high-quality outcomes.
- Work with shop floor personnel to troubleshoot and refine manufacturing techniques.
- Assist in evaluating and integrating automation and technology solutions to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with quality and industry standards, particularly within aerospace coatings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role, preferably within aerospace or coatings.
- Strong background in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with coatings, aerospace components, or related industries is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software, process simulation tools, and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working across departments.
- Ability to work in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with ISO and AS9100 quality systems is a plus.
