About the position

As a Manufacturing Engineer at VSE, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design and analysis of engineering projects. The Engineering department is responsible for developing test equipment and technical data to create new capabilities. Your primary focus will be on creating and fabricating projects for test equipment and processes, ensuring that all engineering specifications, drawings, and artifacts are thoroughly reviewed to propose necessary design modifications. You will leverage your background knowledge to research materials and equipment costs, and you will be responsible for creating technical drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials. In this position, you will assess and provide technical directions based on your findings, offering technical guidance as needed. Staying current on product technical and regulatory changes will be essential to your success in this role. You will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the engineering team and the projects at hand. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in all engineering processes. Responsibilities

  • Create/fabricate projects for test equipment/processes.
  • Review engineering specifications, drawings, and engineering artifacts to propose design modification.
  • Use background knowledge to research for materials and equipment costs.
  • Create technical drawings, assembly drawings, and Bill of materials.
  • Assess and provide technical directions based on findings.
  • Provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Stay current on product technical and regulatory changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of relevant/technical work experience OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • CAD experience (Solidworks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and solve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to work in a flexible team environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
