About the position

Oregon Tool, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to apply technical expertise in planning and design in Heat Treatment processes. This role involves supporting senior level engineers on significant projects and making a substantial impact within the organization. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for completing high complexity manufacturing process projects, providing production support, and offering technical recommendations for division and product line improvements. The position is based in Portland, OR, and is part of a collaborative team environment that values innovative problem-solving and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Completes Projects - Plans, conducts and implements research, development, or engineering assignments involving high impact manufacturing process projects.
  • Coordinates the work of Engineers, Technicians, and other support personnel.
  • Interacts with marketing, accounting, purchasing, manufacturing, product design and suppliers/customers.
  • Writes AR's, collects and analyzes data, and prepares status and final reports.
  • Conducts analysis of alternatives and verification and validation processes.
  • Provides production training and adjusts project schedules as necessary.
  • Works on miscellaneous manufacturing process problems related to production downtime, efficiency loss, or quality deviations.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends corrective actions.
  • Conducts risk analysis and provides recommendations on new technologies.
  • Mentors engineers and provides constructive feedback in design reviews.
  • Communicates technical information through reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline required.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with heat treating processes.
  • Demonstrated innovative problem solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work with globally dispersed teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data management software.
