About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Crane Aerospace & Electronics will gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing and engineering sectors while supporting various projects. This role is designed for students pursuing a degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, providing them with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and develop essential skills for their future careers.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities under the guidance of a Manufacturing Engineer for projects as assigned.
  • Coordinates with representatives of Design Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to plan and complete projects.
  • Provides support for process development and implementation of manufacturing work instructions, tooling, systems, and process improvements.
  • Works closely with the Operations Team and cross-functional members of the Integrated Product Team.
  • Provides Operations Support for the New Product Introduction Process.
  • Assists in the development of the lean manufacturing process for new products.
  • Supports estimating and quoting activities for new products.
  • Performs quantitative analysis for capacity planning and cost comparison.
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or approves process routings, sketches, tool sheets, NC programs, and general process revisions.
  • Maintains and communicates an accurate accounting of project status.
  • May attend seminars, meetings, and Kaizen events.
  • Assists in the creation of production cell layouts and workstation configurations.
  • Assists in coordination of material flow and part availability to support hardware deliveries.

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or Physics; Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Must provide GPA, minimum accepted 3.1 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills in a team environment.
  • Must be project-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Knowledge/proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to fulfill a one quarter or semester internship commitment, 40 hours per week.
