About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager, NPI will lead and motivate a team to achieve the goals of the Manufacturing Engineering Group. This role focuses on the development, scale-up, and commercialization of new and existing product lines and tooling, specifically for Polymer, Device, and Natural Material Centers of Excellence (COEs). The manager will oversee product lifecycle support, evaluate new technologies, and foster collaboration with external partners to support strategic business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage evaluation of scale-up options, selection, and implementation by leading projects and providing updates.
  • Evaluate potential new product/process proposals and recommend scope and timing for production targets.
  • Develop and review project plans, cost estimates, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Cultivate a team with expertise to provide in-house development and technical leadership to R&D, Commercialization, and Operations Groups.
  • Conduct and participate in Engineering Change Notice Board (ECN), Management of Change (MOC), HAZOP, PSA, MSA review processes.
  • Champion DSM Life Saving Rules (LSR) and encourage adherence to safety standards.
  • Manage annual goals and objectives for the team.
  • Perform Personal Development Reviews (PDR) on direct reports to foster individual growth and development.
  • Direct or participate on project teams within the PMP/Project Management process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or related field).
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the Medical Device or related industry.
  • Ability to lead and manage or function as part of a multifunctional and multi-departmental team.
  • Demonstrated project management experience and ability to apply Project Management techniques according to PMP.
  • DSM PMP Silver training required; external PMP certifications preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with products/processes in the medical device environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with manufacturing machinery and tooling in a medical device environment or related industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with Engineering & Quality tools (Statistics, Lean Six Sigma, DFM, DOE).
  • Experience with Regulatory pathways associated with IDE, 510k, PMA, & CE including ISO & ASTM standards.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required.
