About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers, focusing on driving Design for Excellence (DFX) initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes for both new and existing programs. This role emphasizes efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality standards in manufacturing, requiring a dynamic leader with a strong background in manufacturing engineering and exceptional problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the team.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans for team members.
  • Drive DFX initiatives to improve product design, manufacturability, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain to integrate DFX principles into product development.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase efficiency.
  • Oversee the execution of manufacturing engineering projects from concept through production.
  • Ensure that new products are designed for manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production capabilities and reduce waste.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of driving DFX initiatives and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
