About the position

The position involves overseeing the operations of a metal fabrication plant, ensuring that production processes meet customer requirements and quality standards. The role includes supervising a team of five staff members, managing engineering support across various departments, and implementing programs to enhance quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 5 in a professional manufacturing environment.
  • Evaluate and build Router and BOM requirements based on customer needs.
  • Establish production rates, employee requirements, equipment, tooling, and job sequences.
  • Ensure required tooling and equipment are available for production; factor new tooling costs into the budget if necessary.
  • Direct the interpretation of process procedures, inspection procedures, specifications, and standards to ensure product integrity.
  • Collaborate with the QC Manager to prepare internal quality plans for product integrity.
  • Coordinate communication with customers regarding requirements for new and existing products.
  • Oversee the implementation of programs that improve quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction targets.
  • Administer direct supervisory responsibilities for engineering personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide engineering support to Sales, Production, Quality, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist in developing and documenting engineering standards and job processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong skills in sheet metal fabrication and welding knowledge.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments using turret presses, laser cutting, machining, welding, and fabrication.
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM/Solidworks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve part manufacturability problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple products and tasks to meet demanding customer deadlines.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
