About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at JBT Corporation is responsible for overseeing the Manufacturing Engineering Department, providing technical assistance in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure production metrics are met while promoting Lean principles and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Manufacturing Engineering Department and oversee a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Provide engineering guidance through the assembly and testing of AGVs.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to address design and supplier issues.
  • Own the JIRA Production Project for documenting production and testing issues.
  • Participate in Daily Gemba Meetings to report on build statuses.
  • Collaborate with assembly and test teams to meet production metrics, including OTD, cost, and quality.
  • Participate in design reviews and develop work instructions to standardize processes.
  • Work with engineering to develop standardized products considering DFM, serviceability, and quality.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Activities and develop a Lean mindset within the plant management.
  • Recommend product and process improvements to enhance cost, quality, and timing.
  • Provide input on production floor layout and develop visual controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or Technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information including wiring harnesses, electrical schematics, and assembly drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic circuits.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Creo or other solid modeling software.
  • Experience in one piece flow, Cellular manufacturing, and Lean Enterprise.
  • Ability to foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
  • Exposure to assembly, metal fabrication, finishing, welding equipment, and processes.
  • Experience with wire harness assembly and panel building.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in industrial equipment.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems.
  • Management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
