About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Safran plays a crucial role in the Industrialization Department, overseeing the Manufacturing Engineering team to enhance production line efficiency and support operations in achieving key performance metrics. This position focuses on continuous improvement, new product development, and ensuring manufacturability from engineering designs to production integration, all while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Manufacturing Engineering team in sustaining engineering of production lines.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts on the production floor, implementing Lean fundamentals.
  • Assist in new product development by defining manufacturability from engineering designs.
  • Provide critical deliverables for the Industrialization dossier, including Manufacturing Bill of Materials and Standardized work instructions.
  • Lead improvements on ease of manufacturing, error-proofing, and cost optimization.
  • Review engineering drawings and 3D models for manufacturability and provide feedback to the Engineering team.
  • Identify and justify capital expenses to support engineering and new product introductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Minimum 8+ years of related experience in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in an engineering field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry, preferably Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial, Electronics.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical products and systems, mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Knowledge of composites manufacturing processes and associated tooling.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical tooling and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Power BI, MES, LabView.
  • Prior direct team management experience.
  • Certified Green or Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing constraints and phase-gated processes.
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling applications such as SolidWorks, Catia, AutoCAD.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems software.
