About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Trelleborg Medical Solutions is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to ensure product functionality and cost efficiency. This role involves leading manufacturing and process engineering teams, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and developing equipment to enhance manufacturing processes. The position is critical in ensuring safety regulations are adhered to and in mentoring new engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain product functionality and cost efficiency.
  • Ensures cohesive collaboration between manufacturing and process engineering teams and cross-functional departments.
  • Leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and process engineers.
  • Reviews and filters new business opportunities, assessing risks to manufacturing and providing alternatives to customers.
  • Monitors plant capacity and implements solutions with leadership team buy-in.
  • Analyzes and designs lean manufacturing cells to optimize space, equipment, material, and personnel usage.
  • Assists in developing plant layout for better utilization of space and operations.
  • Works closely with new product development, quality, and maintenance personnel to prevent product and tooling issues.
  • Ensures compliance with all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Stays informed about new manufacturing technologies and equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Supports all current and new product introductions.
  • Determines and eliminates root causes of manufacturing issues.
  • Mentors and coaches new Manufacturing Engineers and other employees as needed.
  • Maintains department-related documentation such as training and work instructions.
  • Leads implementation and ownership of new capacity or improvement-related projects.
  • Assists in reducing costs through re-engineering of product, material, and processes.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree in Engineering
  • 7 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Understanding of ISO9001 or 13485 standards

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience in tool design/modifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Training
  • Experience with clean room manufacturing, medical manufacturing, and/or injection molding
