About the position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in assisting the Manufacturing Engineering team with the design, development, testing, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and processes. This position is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, resolving, and preventing production issues that impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost within internal processes.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit safe work habits in all manufacturing processes and identify safety risks, developing preventative actions with oversight.
  • Provide support and basic troubleshooting for current operations, ensuring manufacturing processes meet design specifications in a repeatable and controlled manner.
  • Collaborate with Production teams to ensure team members have the proper tools, equipment, and fixtures for ergonomic job performance.
  • Analyze large data sets using Excel and/or Minitab, applying Lean Six Sigma tools to verify problems and solutions.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance plans and recommend Preventive Maintenance actions to mitigate failures and ensure equipment safety.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities for capital equipment with oversight.
  • Collaborate to understand product value streams and assist in designing process layouts to improve material flow and presentation.
  • Assist in the implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology, identifying and implementing cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas with oversight.
  • Participate in lean improvement activities such as 5S Blitz and Kaizen.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree (Associate or more advanced technical degree) or currently pursuing an Engineering degree (mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing).
  • Completed more than 50% of academic coursework toward an engineering degree, including proficiency in drafting/modeling.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software such as Excel and Word.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask throughout the day.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (Preferred).
  • Alternatively, a combination of 10+ years of manufacturing experience and an approved plan to seek a degree in an engineering discipline.
