About the position

The Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical systems in the Missiles and Fire Control facilities at Lockheed Martin's Orlando location. This role involves analyzing malfunctions, performing repairs on various types of machinery, and ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently. The position requires flexibility to work on different shifts and emphasizes the importance of safety and adherence to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze malfunctions and make necessary repairs of mechanical portions of non-CNC equipment.
  • Perform major overhauls on machine tools, fabricating machines, and welding equipment.
  • Examine equipment for defects or faulty operation and perform necessary repairs.
  • Determine proper methods for dismantling machinery to access trouble spots.
  • Set up and operate various machine tools for machining operations.
  • Check replacement parts for proper dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
  • Reassemble equipment and test for proper operations, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain lubrication records and perform routine oiling and greasing of machines.
  • Study blueprints and specifications to plan operations for complex equipment.
  • Mix coolants and cutting oils as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience or qualified educational certification as a mechanic in a manufacturing/machine tool environment.
  • Ability to independently operate hand and power equipment necessary for job duties.
  • Basic computer skills to access maintenance work order systems and perform company training.
  • Ability to work alone without direction or supervision.
  • Must be able to work on a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
