About the position

The Manufacturing Excellence Engineer at Stanley Black and Decker will be a key member of a transformation team focused on driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency at the Brea, CA manufacturing site. This role involves overseeing various manufacturing improvement workstreams, coaching operations teams, and implementing Lean methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste across multiple manufacturing sites in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement and site transformation as part of the Industrial business unit.
  • Develop workstream charters and detailed work plans for operational improvement initiatives.
  • Review operational data and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction through data analysis and field observations.
  • Implement Lean standard tools and concepts such as 5S, Visual Management, and Kaizen events.
  • Coach shop floor personnel in new operational methodologies.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on workstream progress and escalate risks as necessary.
  • Lead Kaizen and Gemba processes to solve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Prepare cost justifications for capital expenditures on equipment and technology.
  • Collaborate with IT and Operations on project requirements to meet launch deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline, preferably Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing work experience within manufacturing operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in a matrix organization working with multiple functions to drive decision making.
  • Prior operational consulting experience is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of business metrics and P&L.
  • Proficient in root cause problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MES systems like JDE, SAP, and LX.
  • Familiarity with data analytic tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Qlikview.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
