About the position

The position involves directing Team Leaders and Team Members in a manufacturing area, ensuring the execution of responsibilities aligned with company goals and standards. The role encompasses managing operational units, focusing on safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity while fostering teamwork and morale among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a first-line supervisor over team leaders and team members.
  • Plan and coordinate hiring and placement of team members with the Assistant Manager.
  • Monitor staffing conditions, work hours, overtime, job rotation, and absenteeism.
  • Ensure compliance with company rules, policies, and practices, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Manage and appraise team member job performance and recommend corrective action.
  • Develop and maintain positive team member relations based on trust, respect, and communication.
  • Provide direction and motivation to team members emphasizing safety, quality, efficiency, and morale.
  • Lead and maintain the manufacturing and production system of the assigned area, accomplishing department goals.
  • Utilize Toyota Production System (TPS) techniques to standardize processes and eliminate waste.
  • Develop standardized work procedures for each process.
  • Direct the work of Team Leaders and Team Members based on production requirements.
  • Monitor the flow of parts, materials, productivity, and quality, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure quality goals and standards are met and confirm team members use quality systems correctly.
  • Partner with the Quality department to initiate investigation and containment activities.
  • Troubleshoot daily quality, safety, and production issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and participate in setting Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Train and coach team members to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Collect, record, and analyze information regarding activities in the assigned area.
  • Communicate frequently with internal contacts on various issues.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant manufacturing experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Automotive industry experience preferred, especially in parts production, quality, or production control.
  • Experience in automotive interiors preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with TPS and Production Efficiency (PEFF) system preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to perform leadership functions.
  • Ability to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including overtime.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, quality management, and company policies.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Ability to facilitate problem solving and resolution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with integrated computer programs and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
