About the position

The Maintenance Group Leader at General Motors is responsible for leading a team of skilled employees in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment and processes. This role emphasizes adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards while managing a fast-paced work environment. The position offers opportunities for skill development and involvement in the transition to electric and autonomous vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Read and react to the manufacturing daily plan in the moment
  • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Drive accountability through people and processes, requiring difficult conversations in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrate high interpersonal skills and work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Solve complex problems and conduct appropriate checks and tests, communicating evaluation of results
  • Recommend solutions to problems and ensure preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions
  • Meet schedule and quality requirements while complying with local and national labor agreements
  • Implement divisional and corporate policies and safety practices
  • Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
  • Effectively use personnel, material, and equipment to accomplish job completion

Requirements

  • One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints
  • Experience coordinating, managing, and addressing performance concerns in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.)
  • Willingness to work weekends and rotating shifts
