About the position

Hunter Engineering Company is seeking Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Co-Ops for the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms of 2024 at our manufacturing operations in Raymond, Mississippi. This is an exciting opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related fields. As a family-owned business since 1946, Hunter Engineering has established itself as a global leader in wheel alignment systems, wheel balancing systems, and vehicle inspection systems, with our equipment being utilized by vehicle manufacturers, tire companies, and dealers in over 130 countries. The Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Co-Op position will involve recognizing, designing, and implementing plant improvements using 3D CAD software, along with a hands-on approach. Co-ops will have the opportunity to take design projects from concept to fully implemented solutions, gaining valuable experience in manufacturing processes and analysis. The position offers a structured onsite schedule of 40 hours per week, with start dates available in early January 2024, May 2024, or August 2024. In this role, you will be responsible for creating or updating work instructions for production, preparing time studies, and process mapping. You will also engage in the fabrication and design of racks, fixtures, and other components using 3D CAD Software Creo, and construct designed projects utilizing basic machine shop and welding skills. Participation in the 6S program and updating job safety analysis will also be part of your responsibilities, along with electronic prototype construction, evaluation, testing, and minor engineering calculations. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize, design, and implement plant improvements utilizing 3D CAD software and a hands-on approach.
  • Create or update work instructions for use in production.
  • Create design plans and prepare time studies.
  • Conduct process mapping.
  • Fabricate and design racks, fixtures, and other components using 3D CAD Software Creo.
  • Construct designed projects using basic machine shop and welding skills.
  • Participate in the 6S program and update job safety analysis.
  • Engage in electronic prototype construction and evaluation.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes.
  • Work on electronics and mechanical shop projects.
  • Perform minor analysis and engineering calculations.
  • Assist with equipment modification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related fields at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 required, as listed on resume.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
