About the position

The Manufacturing Leadership Development Program at Goodyear in Lawton, Oklahoma, is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of primary entry-level management positions within the manufacturing sector. This program aims to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and develop basic leadership competencies essential for entry-level management roles. Participants will engage in hands-on learning experiences by shadowing various professionals, including Continuous Improvement Specialists, Electrical Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Industrial Engineers, and Area Managers. This immersive approach allows for practical exposure to the manufacturing processes and the operational dynamics of the business center. Throughout the program, participants will learn problem-solving techniques and continuous improvement methods that are critical to the manufacturing environment. They will be tasked with writing reports that reflect their understanding of the plant's manufacturing processes, the roles of support functions, and the technical knowledge required for specific equipment and processes. Additionally, each participant will complete a challenge assignment in each designated position, further enhancing their practical experience. To ensure a well-rounded development, participants will also complete designated management and leadership courses tailored for entry-level managers, preparing them for future leadership roles within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow a Continuous Improvement Specialist, Electrical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Industrial Engineer, and Area Manager within the business center and perform hands-on learning activities as directed.
  • Learn problem-solving and continuous improvement methods relative to that portion of the business center.
  • Write reports to demonstrate knowledge of the plant's manufacturing processes, the roles and responsibilities of the support functions, and technical knowledge of equipment and processes in a specific area.
  • Perform a challenge assignment in each of the designated positions.
  • Complete designated management and leadership courses for entry-level managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required.
  • Must be geographically mobile upon program completion.
  • No experience required.
  • Prior co-op experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to lead complex projects or teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through presentations and written documents.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
