About the position

Thales is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate various machine shop machinery, including CNC milling machines and lathes. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to improve equipment and processes, ensuring precision in machining components, and generating tool paths using Master CAM software. This position is essential for fabricating machine parts and requires a strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, manual lathes, manual milling machines, surface grinders, and hand tools.
• Generate manufacturing process steps and setups to fabricate machine parts based on engineering specifications.
• Create tool paths for CNC machines using Master CAM software.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to review and improve drawings and models.
• Use precision tools and measuring instruments to ensure parts meet GD&T tolerances.
• Study sample parts and engineering information to determine fabrication methods.

Requirements

• Understanding and ability to troubleshoot CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, bandsaws, drill presses, and surface grinders.
• Fully skilled time-served engineer/tool maker with CNC milling experience.
• Experience working to precision tolerances on various materials.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
