The Maintenance Technician role at USG Corporation involves ensuring the efficient operation of industrial equipment through troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. The technician will work with various systems including motors, pneumatic tools, and hydraulic systems, while adhering to safety and housekeeping rules. This position requires collaboration within a team to meet safety and continuous improvement goals, and adaptability to shift work and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all safety and housekeeping rules.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities necessary to keep industrial equipment operating efficiently.
  • Safely install, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot electrical components within the manufacturing plant.
  • Maintain, test and repair AC/DC motors and motor control systems.
  • Develop skill set to troubleshoot advanced control systems.
  • Become familiar with plant work order system.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, cranes/hoist, rigging equipment, welders, fall restraint, etc.
  • Know and understand NEC codes, become trained in NFPA-70E, and practice all other electrician duties in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work as part of a team, communicating and cooperating to achieve the required results.
  • Take an active role in all plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform assigned maintenance mechanical repair and servicing tasks.
  • Must have the desired technical skills to safely and proficiently work as an electrician in a plant setting.
  • Willingness to work the assigned schedule.
  • Consistently demonstrate an understanding of all plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and programs.
  • Meet the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • Negotiate steps and ladders.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervision and efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining a set of personal tools as specified in the operator rate program.
  • Basic computer skills needed to complete safety training and review work-related email.
  • Ability to operate equipment as needed, including forklifts.
