About the position
This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, modifications, and repair of manufacturing equipment related to fiber optic processes. The role requires a deep understanding of various piping systems, including high purity alloy and engineered polymer systems, as well as troubleshooting and testing of operational systems. The technician will also oversee the unloading of hazardous chemicals and operate abatement devices, collaborating with engineers to improve designs and support emergency response efforts.
Responsibilities
- Independently plan work assignments and perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Train and direct plant trades helpers, junior trades workers, trainees, and trades workers assigned to assist in the performance of the work.
- Collaborate with functional personnel to resolve problems and recommend solutions based on trades knowledge.
- Complete an accredited trades training course or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through practical experience.
- Demonstrate basic skills associated with the trade.
- Wear and properly store all personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Two years of an accredited Trades School with certification of completion or equivalent knowledge and skill acquired through practical experience.
- Two years of work experience in the trade.
