About the position

The Manufacturing Material Control Officer at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for overseeing the production and material planning functions within a high-tech engineering environment. This role involves compiling and monitoring production schedules, creating material structures, and identifying process improvements. The officer will also prepare labor and material forecasts, interface with supply chain partners, and ensure the accuracy of inventory records to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and monitor monthly production schedules.
  • Create complex material structures in the material planning tool.
  • Identify process flow improvements and implementation.
  • Prepare labor and material forecasts as requested.
  • Interface with supply chain or suppliers on delivery issues and problem resolution.
  • Maintain and update inventory records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Print shop orders and supporting documents.
  • Support shop floor supervisor in managing dispatch lists.
  • Ensure operations are reported and shop orders are closed.
  • Notify production control of over/under material issuance.
  • Monitor floor stock inventory levels and place orders for replenishment as necessary.
  • Coordinate with production control planners to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Verify quantity of material issued to the shop floor.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies in inventory records.
  • Collaborate with production teams and stockroom to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Work closely with shop floor supervisor to ensure material usage is logged and accounted for.
  • Provide input to inventory policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inventory floor stock audits.
  • Identify material shortages and drive problem-solving resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or supply chain.
  • Exceptional understanding of bill of material concepts and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with material planning tools.
  • In-depth understanding of MRP/ERP principles.
