As a Manufacturing Operator at Kennametal, you will play a crucial role in the production process by operating sintering furnaces and ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly. This position requires you to load and unload materials, start and stop the furnaces, and manage the sintering process effectively. You will be responsible for removing sintered heats from the furnaces, breaking down loads, and delivering products to their designated departments. Following established procedures is essential to maintain quality and efficiency in operations. In addition to operating the furnaces, you will also be tasked with conducting quality control checks. This includes removing Quality Control lab tests, placing them in the proper envelopes, and delivering box tests to the appropriate focus factory. You will need to pull samples and record inspection results accurately, maintaining heat run sheets and filing reports as required. Familiarity with the MII platform for scanning and recording information is necessary, as is performing routine furnace maintenance according to the CLI checklist. The work environment is designed to be safe and efficient, featuring controlled temperatures and dust collection systems. However, you may experience exposure to heat and residue odors, particularly during the unloading process if a malfunction occurs. Safety is a priority, and you will be required to wear safety glasses with side shields, steel-toe shoes, and gloves as needed. The role involves intermittent walking, reaching, lifting above shoulder height, sitting, and bending, with the physical demand of lifting heavy furnace trays weighing up to thirty-three pounds above shoulder height. You can expect to spend approximately 8-10 hours standing during your twelve-hour shift, with five break opportunities throughout the work period.
