About the position

The Manufacturing Process Control Engineer at Kruger Products - KTG USA plays a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing operations in Memphis, TN. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, long-range planning, day-to-day operations, process control optimization, and driving continuous improvements within the manufacturing environment. The engineer will provide technical support to the Manufacturing Department, focusing on optimizing performance, increasing production efficiency, improving quality, and enhancing equipment reliability. In this role, the engineer will lead Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) technicians in utilizing industry standards for troubleshooting, process improvement, and training/certification programs. A significant part of the job involves writing and troubleshooting ladder logic programming, as well as creating and utilizing processes for analyzing production and maintenance data. This analysis is essential for identifying problems related to processes, equipment, tooling, and personnel. The engineer will employ technical skills and formal methods to identify root causes and implement effective solutions, which may include design changes. Coordination with internal and external resources is vital for troubleshooting equipment and executing repairs, preventive maintenance, and upgrades to equipment and tooling. The engineer will also participate in planning meetings with the Maintenance team to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, the role supports the Continuous Improvement group in developing departmental procedures and training programs, and the engineer will be involved in the development and implementation of capital improvements, leading these initiatives when necessary. All salaried personnel are expected to ensure they possess the necessary competencies to apply operating procedures effectively, particularly concerning environmental controls. Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standards related to instrumentation and controls (ISA) are also essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Manufacturing Department to optimize performance, increase production efficiency, improve quality, and increase equipment reliability.
  • Lead E&I technicians to utilize industry standards in troubleshooting, process improvement, and training/certification programs.
  • Write and troubleshoot ladder logic programming.
  • Create and use processes for analysis of production and maintenance data to identify problems with processes, equipment, tooling, and personnel.
  • Coordinate communications and efforts with internal and external resources to troubleshoot equipment and execute repairs, PM's, and upgrades to equipment and tooling.
  • Participate in planning meetings with Maintenance.
  • Support efforts of Continuous Improvement group to develop departmental procedures and training programs.
  • Develop specific technical procedures when necessary.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts and teams.
  • Support development and implementation of capital improvements, and lead implementation when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Programming experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and/or Distributed Control System (DCS) equipment, specifically Rockwell (AB) PLC and Ladder Logic.
  • Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives and troubleshooting concepts.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and loop tuning.
  • Additional training and experience in papermaking, robotic and AGV/LGV automated material handling systems, Honeywell DCS, Experion, and Measurex (Da Vinci) systems, Valmet DNA, industrial networking protocols (Ethernet IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, etc.), well water treatment, recycled fiber, and boiler operations is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation, or both.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate expert-level understanding of both business process execution and computer systems organization.
  • Ability to stay educated on the latest computer and software technologies, along with multiple specialty vendor product offerings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
  • Ability to conduct training programs and make group presentations.
  • Ability to plan and organize work activities, manage work time efficiently, and work independently.
  • Proven complex analytical skills and the ability to develop sound recommendations and solutions.
